A Song In The Night

A Song In The Night

Jyvonne Inman recently completed the first painting she has produced in over a decade. Fighting stage 4 cancer since 2008, and having previous inflammatory problems with her back and shoulders, Jyvonne put away her brush and canvas a long time ago, unable to work with an easel. However, as of late, as Jyvonne has been going through a new season of metastasis and chemotherapy treatment, she has become very weary and has needed extra rest. Not being as active in her daily endeavors as before, she began to yearn for the relaxing experience of painting again. One day about two months ago, as she was resting in the recliner, it occurred to her that she could lay a piece of gessoed masonite board on her lap and paint on its firm surface, all the while remaining supported and comfortable. Soon she had her old paints brought back from storage, updated her supplies, and discovered the joy of expressing her heart through the medium of paint.

This painting, "A Song in the Night", is...

Jyvonne Inman Finishes 5 Month Chemo Treatment For Breast Cancer

Jyvonne Inman finished a 5 month long cycle of chemotherapy for metastatic breast cancer on Tuesday. Given "months" to live in May, the doctors were hoping to be able to shrink the gastric tumors enough to relieve the pain and blockages caused by them and minimize her time in the hospital. Suddenly, in July, her cancer markers took a dramatic turn downwards and by August, the PET scan showed no detectable cancer, meaning there was no longer any tumor over 7mm across. This was remarkable, considering the cancer had not only traveled to her stomach and intestines, but to her spine and hip, too. Although her cancer markers are still ""above normal, they have fallen from values of 346 to 105 since August, and her pain has been relieved. She attributes the faithfulness of God and the prayers and support of many people for her life today.

Jyvonne is pictured here with her faithful friend, Loretta, who drove her to- and stayed with her through- most of her chemo appointments and...

Jyvonne Inman Releases New Print

Jyvonne Inman is placing her latest drawing, "Cherished", on her website today. A piece created through the discovery of love through the harsh realities of her own life, Jyvonne shares the following inspiration behind her work:

"Somewhere I read that when there is something lacking in us, it's because God wants to fill that void with Himself.

All of my life, what I truly desired was a sense that I was cherished by someone. I grew up facing a lot of rejection, and even in my marriage, I often wondered if I was really valued just as I was.

As I have gone through times of pain and sorrow, though, I have discovered that Jesus truly has been there for me. He has wiped my tears away as I poured my heart out to Him, carried me when I felt like a lamb whose legs were broken, and grounded me in His truth and assured me when I have felt afraid. With Him, I know I am treasured and that I am never really alone.

A rose symbolizes a special, personal love-...

Jyvonne Inman Describes My Cloudy Sunset

Jyvonne Inman Describes My Cloudy Sunset

I used to see the most awesome sunsets when I lived in Kentucky. I am sure I have seen spectacular evening displays elsewhere, but somehow, the rays of light that spread themselves across the sky in the countryside where we lived have sunk deep within my soul. They were like a message, reminding me that there is beauty beyond ourselves... a place where the messy and irritating details of life can not come encroach. A place of hope and peace.

I remember driving along a mountain highway at the closing of one afternoon, when I beheld one of the most memorable sunsets of all. It didn't possess any brilliant hues of red or orange, or present itself with an expanse that engulfed the entire western sky. Rather, it was a very cloudy day. A day with thick, dark clouds. Clouds with no beauty- just black. But tucked behind those threatening giants, a brilliant golden strand of light pierced through, defining the borders of the darkness with a shimmering frame of glory. It was one of...

Jyvonne Inmans Cancer Metastasizes To The Bone

Jyvonne Inman recently has been informed that the breast cancer that she has battled since 2008 has invaded her spine and left hip/pelvis area. Jyvonne has had to take a medical leave of absence from her job as a nurse and will be starting radiation and other medical treatment in the coming week.

Many of Jyvonne's finest works of art have sprung from the hope that she has gleaned through the times of suffering, as she tries to pass the encouragement and strength she receives to others who are also going through hard situations in their lives. It is her desire that as she is receiving cancer treatments that the time that she spends recovering would produce additional works that would provide a lasting influence of hope and strength to those who view her pictures.

Jyvonne would appreciate your prayers during this trying season of her life, and would also ask you to keep her 7 children in your prayers also.

May God bless you.

Jyvonne Inman Conveys The Calming Influence Of Love

Jyvonne Inman Conveys The Calming Influence Of Love

Jyvonne Inman captures the love of a mother in her drawing "Tender Moment". Created at the close of a trying day, when she felt drained and irritable, Jyvonne captures the contrast of one who feels emotionally like a "dragon lady", yet is softened by the bond between herself and her young son. Soothed by the love between mother and child, it dawns upon the artist that she truly does have much to be thankful for.
